Journeying Inward in the Desert

Jonesing deeply for the desert and its silence and solitude... When I was in Joshua Tree, I chose to explore it alone. For me it was the beginning of a very, very long journey inward (one that I’m still on and always will be), venturing into the shadow side. Ego, fear, bullshit - it all lives there in those twisted, thorny shadows. Our shadows are scary places until we choose consciously to face them. Meditation, reflection, silence, rest, taking a moment to ask yourself, “Is this inner dialogue serving me?” ...these pauses are where we find space to fill up darkness with light. It’s a choice. It’s not someone else’s job to do the work or fix it for you, and there’s no one else to blame but ourselves if we choose not to face our own shadows. It starts by asking simple questions: “Why am I responding in this way?” “How else could I look at this situation?” “Was it only her/his fault or could I have responded more consciously?” We all have the power to transform darkness into light. What’s one small change you could make today? Maybe it’s just the choice to notice, and to dig a little bit deeper, one dusty step forward at a time. Off to the desert we go... 🙃✌️ #deepthoughts #throwback
