Introducing my Singing Bowls | Fridays in December 💖

Hello to my dear friends, colleagues and candidates!

Some of you may have heard me talk about my Tibetan singing bowls, among my other kooky and eclectic interests outside the office (energy healing, mediumship, the afterlife, astrology... you name it, I've probably studied it).

In case you and I haven't talked about the bowls together, I wanted to share a little bit about why they mean so much to me, and why I love sharing them with others.

A quest for healing.

In the past year, I've done a lot of personal healing in a quest for peace and balance in life, and it has been a ride. Healing can happen in many shapes and forms on physical, spiritual, emotional and mental levels. I've worked with crystals, reiki, Akashic records, journeying, mediumship, meditation, acupuncture and breathwork, among others. I love all these modalities and am eternally grateful for their gifts, though the one healing modality that has resonated with me most personally is sound healing, notedly the Tibetan singing bowls.

Now if you are wondering, "what in the world are Tibetan singing bowls?" let me fill you in a bit. Singing bowls are hand-crafted, specially-tuned metal bowls made with the intention of healing. The formation of the bowls is based on ancient practices dating back to the 8th century during the time of Buddha. Each bowl is tuned to resonate with a certain chakra, or energetic center in the body. As we as humans are mostly made of water, the vibrations from these bowls give us a deep, cleansing energetic massage.

Today, the Shakyamuni clan in Nepal still makes healing bowls, chanting mantras and prayers while they hammer the raw metal into bowls by hand. Essentially, you can imagine as the bowls sing that there are thousands of prayers flowing through your body!

Sharing soul medicine.

I think you can see why I became captivated by these bowls. I fell in love with them so much so that I learned how to practice with them through the Atma Buti (Soul Medicine) Sound and Vibrational School with the amazing Katherine Hamer this past winter.

I made the decision to learn how to practice with Tibetan bowls because they have helped me so deeply with releasing my own emotional and physical pain, and I wanted to be able to share that gift with others, too. Experiencing sound baths (aka: a group of people lying or sitting in meditation and rest while a practitioner plays sound bowls, drums, chimes, etc.) helped me find peace and clarity when no doctor or clinician had an answer for me as to why I felt “off” or couldn’t quite get that pulsing pain in my left shoulder to go away no matter what I did.

These bowls saved my life.

A few months ago, I was feeling the absolute lowest, most negative, exhausted and depressed I had felt in years. I just couldn’t get the incessant thoughts out of my head that I usually am able to rewrite or overcome through daily mediation practice and taking care of my wellbeing. No matter what, I kept hearing everything from “you’re not good enough” to “why even bother” to “I am so alone.” I was frightened. I have battled depression almost all my life, though I have overcome many patterns over the years and worked hard to find stability and peace without Western medication as I found alternative medicines worked better for me, personally. But in that moment... I let my ego and my saboteur fully hijack me. I spiraled into an off-the-rails physical manifestation of my thoughts... this unbearable weight of anxiety that felt like it was building in my stomach and swimming throughout my bloodstream. It felt like it would never end.

But then something told me, “go to a sound bath.” So I did. Afterwards, as powerful sound healing helps us release what is toxic in all forms, later that night I hit absolute rock bottom darkness with my thoughts and feelings. It was so intense, I didn’t want to feel the intensity of what I was releasing and tried to numb the release with alcohol (not recommended!). When I woke up the next day, to my surprise the weight was lifted. I felt like I could breathe again. I felt like I could smile again. I felt like I took back control of my body.

I tell you this because I cannot explain how else overnight my world turned back right-side-up. Whatever I needed that day, the bowls went to work and filled me back up. That sound healing shook me back to life and turned me in 48 hours back to taking care of myself, reconnecting to spirit, and making it a priority, which for me is what I need to survive in this life. The beautiful thing about healing is it meets you exactly where you need it, on all levels. So if you’re curious or even skeptical about sound healing, try it! I believe it truly has the power to facilitate transformation and bring peace back into your life.

With much love,
Kathryn

PS. If you are feeling depressed and feel you need help, seek assistance from a mental health medical professional. I would not be where I am today without years of therapy and inner work, using alternative medicine as a means to facilitate my healing process.

Led by fellow healer and medicine maker whose grace & abilities to hold space I have always admired, Jordan Catherine Pagán! We will heal and cleanse our bodies with a Violet Flame healing - a powerful tool that transmutes any negative thought or belief system into a higher consciousness and releases anything in our energy field that is not of our highest good. As we open into expanded awareness, we will flow into a DNA activation, supporting a multidimensional consciousness, our natural state. We will then honor the new solar year with a candle magic light ceremony, and integrate our intentions and desires with singing bowls (played by yours truly).
